Riverbend Blog Comments
Hello to you all,
After I read several postings at riverbendblogs.blogspot.com I realized that these people we consider Middle Eastern’s…are actually real people that have names, and parents, and jobs. They own land, and have belongings. What is amazing to me is that all we as American’s see is the bad parts, that they are horrible terrorist people that are plotting against America. Riverbend doesn’t say she likes what America is doing. She Says that they are there and have such a presence, to where there is so much violence and hate that is taking place around them. In one of her postings she talked about leaving and going to Jordan. The way she described the fear that she had was so intense. I cannot imagine walking out of my house right now and FEARING for my life. What would it be like to consider that everytime you told some bye, that it may be the last time you ever see them alive. It is insanity and disorder that is taking place in these countries. The United States is a big contributer to that as well. I am all for the war, but not when you lose sight of what you are fighting for, and innocent people lose their lives. River talks VERY highly of her family and how important they all are to each other. I didn’t really come across where she talked about non-Western countries regarding family, but I can say that one thing we do allow to happen is that we take our family for granted and just assume that they will always be there. The family is highly acknowledged there. I am going to keep up with her blog. Having a husband that is in the military, it is definently a topic of interest. Good read!

The familial context of the blog is fascinating to me…we are encouraged to see the Iraqi’s as the enemy, but they are people, just like we are. This is not to say that there are not evil people over there, just as there are here. But the fact is that we should not lump them all into the label of “terrorist.”
Great job!
